Adirondack Kids Day™ is Upon Us!

Saturday, October 5th is the date for the Eighth Annual Adirondack Kids Day™, a family-friendly day set along Fourth Lake in the hamlet of Inlet, New York, with free activities in keeping with our mission: To encourage kids to set down their electronic devices, inspiring them to read and get outside to explore the great outdoors!

The first 500 children accompanied by an adult will receive a Goody Bag that will include a free copy of the third book in The Adirondack Kids® series, The Lost Lighthouse.

Among highlights for the event are Mark Manske of Adirondack Raptors with several of his remarkable birds of prey. Mark has also written a children’s book, the first in a new series he is developing and  drawing upon his many years as an expert with these magnificent birds.

There will be horseback rides again this year, this time with professional barrel racer Amy Galway and friends from Galways Quarterhorses. This year those real Adirondack Kids who come will get to meet and ride Hollywood who was the model for the cover of volume 16 of The Adirondack Kids®: The Outlaws of Cascade Falls.

The French Louie Fishing Derby continues to be a favorite with the kids no matter the weather! Officials with the DEC outfit and equip the young anglers and ride them out to a platform on 5th Lake. It helps to register early and contest winners are announced at the end of the day around 3 p.m.

The Children’s Author & Illustrator Book Fair is at the center of the event. The authors and illustrators of children’s books set in the Adirondacks congregate to meet reader and autograph at The Adirondack Reader bookstore from 1 – 3 p.m. Tami Cantarano, Maggie Henry and the whole Adirondack Kids team will be among those on hand.

NEW this year will be the opportunity to ask questions about Scuba Diving from Andy Beach of Adirondack Diving Adventures. Andy was the one who gave us the idea for The Adirondack Kids® #17: Spies on Castle Rock and the Secrets of the Secret Code. He told us about something he found on the bottom of Blue Mountain Lake. Want to know what it is? Come and ask Andy or read the book! He’ll also tell you about a special geocache he put there!

Joins us if you can for all this and so much more on Saturday, October 5th in Inlet, New York for Adirondack Kids Day™ 2019. Below is a Schedule of the day’s activities!
