the Road Again: 1 School – 1 Book

Dates for our winter and spring school visits are filling up fast! We are also booking for autumn and winter of 2019-20

Among schools we are looking forward to visiting in early 2019 are Port Leyden and Glenfield Elementary schools; Hastings Mallory Elementary School; Kensington Road Elementary School; Carthage Elementary School and Southern Cayuga School.

Here is a creative video produced by the South Lewis district staff as the schools get ready to launch their district-wide program!

Anyone interested in learning how to bring us - The Adirondack Kids® - to their school can contact Carol VanRiper directly at 315-225-0154 or by e-mailing her at info@adirondackkids.com!

Details can also be found on The Adirondack Kids® website.

The Adirondack Kids® #19

The working title of the new book:

The Adirondack Kids® #19 – Phantom of the Talus Cave

We recently submitted a brief description to North Country Books for their 2019 catalogue:

“How the familiar can sometimes seem strange when in unfamiliar territory!

A weekend bushwhack in search of an old guide’s legendary cave leads the Adirondack Kids to a surprising discovery. More than the cold can bring a chill at night!”

What a blast we had doing our ‘live’ research for this latest book! Later this year we’ll be sharing some of the video footage that we took around the talus caves!

The Annual Summer Book Tour

We also plan on visiting many communities during the summer with that latest book, including those annual appearances at Old Forge Hardware in Old Forge, NY during the Fourth of July holiday weekend and the incredible Hoss’s Authors Fair in Long Lake which is always the second Tuesday of August!

The 8th Annual Adirondack Kids Day™

Hundreds of children and their parents and grandparents have joined us each year for the annual Adirondack Kids Day event made possible by main sponsor Kiwanis of the Central Adirondacks along with the French Louie’s Sports, the Adirondack Reader and the IABA (Inlet Area Business Association.

Plan on joining us for this great family-friendly event held in Inlet New York the first Saturday of October. This year that is Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

With many people traveling from out of town and arriving the night before, we are brainstorming some ideas for a special feature to take place on Friday evening, October 4!

Keeping in Touch!

And, of course, we’ll be keeping you informed on a regular basis in keeping with our mission:

To inspire in young people a love for reading while

encouraging them to set down their electronic devices

to explore the great outdoors!
